About the Department
The Strategic Alliances division of the Office of Principal Scientific Adviser facilitates partnerships between Industry, Foundation, academia, startups, and MSMEs, through coalitions, and consortia both national and international. The deliberations that followed saw demand from the industries and foundations feeding into academia and the start-up ecosystem’s strategy of developing innovative solutions to meet them. The Industry-Academia collaborations over the last year have supported (a) joint R&D or contracted industry R&D; (b) the establishment of Centers of Excellence (CoE) by industry inacademia, and (c) finding innovative solutions for social development through the Manthan Platform. This division also supports sourcing partnerships for the National Research Foundation
Key Responsibilities
The Business Development Assistant will provide essential support to the Strategic Alliances Division in driving partnership engagement, preparing business development (BD) collateral, conducting secondary research, and assisting in high-level communications and outreach. This role requires an organized, ethical, and detail-oriented professional with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to the mission of the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.
- Business Development Support:
- Assist in preparing, updating, and organizing business development collateral (presentations, documents, outreach material).
- Support strategic alliance efforts by compiling and maintaining outreach repositories and databases.
- Research & Documentation:
- Conduct secondary research on stakeholders, partner organizations, and scientific/technological developments.
- Draft talking points, briefing notes, and summaries for use by the Director and team during meetings and events.
- Write compelling stories and summaries based on project outcomes; contribute to the development of a project outcome compendium.
- Administrative & Operational Support:
- Provide travel planning and logistical support to the Director.
- Organize internal and external meetings, including scheduling, follow-ups, and documentation.
- Maintain records of meetings, outreach activities, and correspondence related to strategic partnerships.
- Communication:
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure high-quality written and visual materials (PowerPoint presentations, reports, briefs).
- Ensure consistency and professionalism in all external communications and partner-facing documents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Arts, or a related field.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English.
- High standards of professionalism, ethics, and sincerity.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Desired Attributes:
- Prior experience or internship in public sector, think tanks, policy research, or strategic partnerships is preferred.
- Interest in science, technology, and innovation in the context of public policy or national development.
- Creative writing or documentation experience will be an asset.
