About the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India

In November 1999, the Cabinet Secretariat established the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (OPSA) to the Government of India. The PSA’s office aims to provide pragmatic and objective advice to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet in matters of Science and Technology,

We are looking for a Communications Specialist to support the OPSA in advancing its communications and outreach activities. This is a full-time role.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead OPSA’s communication and outreach strategy and its implementation
  • Strategise outreach on various initiatives and missions of the OPSA.
  • Document and develop content & communication collaterals to disseminate various outreach material, including major visits and meetings of OPSA.
  • Provide editorial expertise for various outputs of the OPSA.
  • Manage and lead content delivery for OPSA website and social media handles.
  • Coordinate with cross cutting teams for internal communication and content management within the OPSA.
  • Scout for relevant content related to S&T matter from various stakeholders and develop appropriate science communication initiatives.
  • Manage partnerships & external relations of the OPSA with stakeholders from academia, industry, international organisations and other governments.

Qualifications

 

  • 4-5 years of comms experience, preferably in Govt agency dealing with S&T matters.
  • Master’s in Science, Engineering, Public Policy, Economics, International Relations and related fields.
  • Desirable: PhD in Science, Engineering, Public Policy, Economics, International Relations and related fields.
  • Expertise in contemporary digital communication and project management tools.
  • Good understanding of broad science and technology ecosystem.
  • Experience dealing with stakeholders involved in technology and science policies.
  • Experience dealing with stakeholders like Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Press Information Bureau, etc.
  • Experience in drafting and developing communication outputs such as press releases, newsletters and long form reports & policy briefs.
  • Very good English language skills, particularly in popular Science writing. Fluency in regional languages is an added advantage.
