About the Department

Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency under the Department of Promotion for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It hosts teams working with various government initiatives such as Make in India, Startup India, AGNii, and PMG.

Role Overview:

This will be a senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction, driving operational excellence, and contributing to the organization's mission of attracting investments and promoting economic growth. The person will play a crucial role in leading and managing teams, developing strategies, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve Invest India's objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investment Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive investment strategies aligned with the economic growth goals of the Government of India. Lead the formulation of sector-specific investment strategies to attract domestic and foreign investments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with government agencies, international organizations, industry leaders, and investors to foster partnerships that drive investments and facilitate seamless business operations.
  • Investment Promotion: Design and execute targeted investment promotion campaigns to showcase India's potential as an investment destination, highlighting key sectors, policies, and incentives.
  • Investment Facilitation: Lead the investment facilitation process by providing end-to-end support to investors, addressing challenges, streamlining regulatory processes, and ensuring a conducive investment environment.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks to investment projects and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the protection of investors' interests and long-term sustainability of projects.
  • Policy Advocacy: Collaborate with relevant government departments to advocate for policy reforms that enhance the ease of doing business, remove investment barriers, and promote a competitive business environment.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor global investment trends, market dynamics, and emerging opportunities to provide insights that inform investment decisions and strategic planning.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing investment team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, enabling their professional growth.
  • Performance Measurement: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of investment strategies, track progress, and report to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on investment activities, outcomes, and trends to the senior management, government officials, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field. 
  • A minimum of 20 years of experience in a leadership position in a large MNC in and experience in working with governments.
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years in a senior management role, demonstrating leadership and decision-making capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to a diverse team, developing and executing effective strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Strong ability to engage with high-level government officials, international organizations, industry leaders, and investors, with exceptional networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Familiarity with India's regulatory environment and policy landscape and experience in advocating for policy reforms and regulatory improvements to enhance the ease of doing business and attract investments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver compelling presentations and represent the organization effectively
  • Proficiency in analyzing economic trends, investment data, and market insights to inform strategic decisions.
  • Experience in leading and managing high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work culture.
  • Strong commitment to ethical practices, transparency, and integrity in all aspects of work.
