About the Department

Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It hosts teams working with various government initiatives such as Make in India, Startup India, AGNii, and PMG.

Role Description- Responsible for driving research to support strategy formulation and setting of export target by conducting in-depth analysis to identify growth opportunities and innovation within specific industries and regions. This role requires a deep understanding of market dynamics, combining data-driven analysis with deep sectoral and geographical knowledge to guide strategic planning. Responsible for high-level decision-making and alignment with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Global Collaboration:
    • Liaise with trade officers embedded in overseas missions, driving research initiatives in collaboration with think tanks and consulting agencies.
    • Establish and nurture global collaborations to enhance the depth and breadth of trade analytics.
  • Strategic Collaboration:
    • Provide strategic inputs for the overall trade promotion strategy.
    • Establish strategic collaborations with key stakeholders and industry experts to enhance analytical insights.
  • Global Trade Advisory:
    • Develop strategies to explore and penetrate new export markets by identifying emerging regions and untapped opportunities.
    • Provide comprehensive market intelligence in the form of detailed reports outlining entry strategies for countries or regions with growth potential.
  • Sector-Specific Trade Strategy:
    • Conduct comprehensive analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities for expansion, and innovative breakthroughs within specific sectors or industries.
    • Create in-depth sectoral research reports providing insights for strategic planning and operational guidance within targeted sectors or industries.
  • Export Promotion Advisory:
    • Liaise with relevant bodies to drive export promotion through comprehensive reporting and execution advisory.
    • Provide strategic support to stakeholders for effective execution aligned with export targets of the government.
  • Data-Driven Framework:
    • Create sophisticated models and devise a data-driven framework to set targets, deaveraged by sectors, regions, states, EPCs, and missions.
    • Utilize advanced analytics to formulate targeted strategies based on commodity and territory analysis.
    • Provide actionable insights for target-setting and strategy formulation.

  • Market Intelligence and Trade Diversification:
    • Develop and implement a strategic plan focused on diversifying trade markets by identifying emerging regions and exploring untapped opportunities.
    • Provide critical market intelligence to exporters, facilitating trade initiatives that open new avenues for export growth and diversification.
  • Strategic Research Impact:
    • Provide critical feedback on strategic research outputs, ensuring their relevance and impact on trade promotion initiatives.
    • Contribute to the evolution of research methodologies and best practices.
  • Trade Intelligence & Analytics Support:
    • Drive the trade intelligence and analytics mandate, positioning the organization as a leader in the field.
    • Continuously innovate and evolve analytical approaches to stay ahead in a dynamic trade environment.
  • Export Promotion Consulting:
    • Offer consultative export promotion support to businesses in identified focus segments.
    • Provide expert advice on market entry strategies, regulatory compliance, and customized solutions to address challenges specific to each industry.
  • Stakeholder Feedback:
    • Establish a robust feedback loop from stakeholders.
    • Use stakeholder insights to refine and optimize the data-driven target-setting framework.

  • Trade Expertise: Proven mastery of trade industry intricacies, Comprehensive understanding of global markets and trade regulations, Strategic vision for long-term export promotion planning.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Demonstrate advanced expertise in managing complex stakeholder relationships. Build and nurture strategic alliances with industry leaders, governmental bodies, and international partners.

Qualifications

  • Professional with at least 15-20 years of strong business finance & commercial experience along with strong stakeholder relationship management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in either sector-specific or country-specific strategies, with a strong track record of developing and implementing successful trade and business initiatives.
  • Exceptional rounded experience in Data & Research Strategy in large size setups.
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade dynamics, including tariffs, quotas, and trade agreements.
  • Educational Qualifications: Master's degree or higher in economics, business administration, legal, public policy foreign trade, foreign policy, data science or allied areas.
