State Potential
Telangana’s landscape is diverse, ranging from the fertile plains of the eastern Deccan Plateau to the rolling hills and forests of the Western Ghats in the north.
Located in a seismically stable region, Telangana experiences a semi-arid climate marked by long dry spells and high solar radiation—conditions highly favorable for renewable energy generation, especially solar. The state receives an average annual solar insolation of 5.5–6.0 kWh/m²/day, making it ideal for large-scale solar projects. Telangana’s climatic conditions, with clear skies for over 300 days a year, have enabled it to emerge as a frontrunner in India’s renewable energy push, with an installed solar power of 6,178 MW. The consistent heat and dry environment also support efficient energy storage and minimal panel degradation, offering a competitive edge for clean-tech and energy infrastructure investments.
Telangana also benefits from diverse agro-climatic conditions that support the cultivation of a wide range of crops across seasons. The state receives an average annual rainfall of 957 mm, mainly during the Southwest Monsoon (June–September). These climatic patterns influence seasonal crop planning and have facilitated the growth of horticultural crops like fruits, vegetables, and spices.
