Telangana has a population of 37 Mn, with a sex ratio of 988 and urban population of 13.6 Mn (2011 census). 

67% of the population is in the working-age group (15–59 years), which provides a strong labor force base with a literacy rate of 67%. This youthful demographic supports Telangana’s economic growth, innovation potential, and workforce availability across sectors.

Telangana offers a strong and expanding healthcare ecosystem that serves both as a critical public service and a major investment opportunity. The state has built an extensive network of medical infrastructure, including 2 District Hospitals, 26 Teaching Hospitals, 72 Area Hospitals, 97 Community Health Centres, 882 Primary Health Centres, and 4,745 Health Sub-Centres, ensuring access to healthcare across urban and rural regions.

Flagship institutions such as NIMS Hyderabad and MNJ Oncology reflect the state's capacity for advanced care NIMS handles around 3,500 outpatient cases daily, while MNJ treats over 2,500 cancer patients annually, underscoring high patient throughput and strong institutional trust.

The state has a literacy rate of 73.4% and a total school enrollment of 58.99 lakh students across 40,656 schools, with private unaided schools accounting for over 51% of enrollments. Higher education includes 4,180 intermediate colleges serving 4.77 lakh students, 146 government degree colleges and 56 polytechnics. Skill training is being scaled up through 65 ITIs being converted into Advanced Technology Centres and plans for a Skill University in Hyderabad. This highlights the state's focuses on universal access to education, quality infrastructure, and skill development. 

The state is home to some of India’s highest-ranked institutions such as IIT Hyderabad, IIIT Hyderabad, ISB Hyderabad, NALSAR, ISI Hyderabad, NIT Warangal, excelling not only in engineering but also in law, business, and interdisciplinary studies.

Telangana is also rapidly scaling up medical education to address future healthcare demands. The state has 26 government medical colleges offering 3,690 MBBS, 1,144 postgraduate, and 104 super-specialty seats, supported by a teaching hospital bed strength of 12,484. During FY 2024–25, eight new medical colleges were sanctioned, adding another 400 MBBS seats. Additionally, the state runs 28 nursing colleges and a government dental college, and is enhancing training infrastructure with simulation centres, fertility units, and a transplant centre planned at Gandhi Hospital.

Telangana is one of India’s fastest-growing tech hubs, with IT/ITES exports doubling between 2016 and 2021 and a target of ₹3 lakh crore by 2026 alongside the creation of 1 million tech jobs. 

India’s largest incubator T-Hub is anchored at Hyderabad and it is home to global tech giants. The state offers a dynamic, investor-friendly ecosystem backed by the country’s first AI strategy and a plan to skill 5,00,000 AI professionals by 2027. 

With over 6,600 supported startups and a 200-acre AI City underway, Telangana combines deep talent, plug-and-play infrastructure, and progressive ICT policies to offer a future-ready platform for investors in emerging technologies. At the heart of this success is Hyderabad, often referred to as Cyberabad, which hosts global tech giants, India’s largest startup incubator (T-Hub), and specialised centers such as WE Hub (women entrepreneurs), AgHub (agri-tech), and the Cybersecurity CoE. The city is supported by premier institutions like IIT, IIIT, and ISB, and contributes over 60% of Telangana’s patent filings in AI/ML.

Telangana is also home to Genome Valley, India’s largest life sciences cluster; the Medical Devices Park, South Asia’s largest dedicated hub for med-tech innovation; and the upcoming Hyderabad Pharma City, a world-class, sustainable industrial cluster for pharmaceutical manufacturing. This positions the state not just as a healthcare delivery hub, but also as a critical node in the global life sciences supply chain offering a dual advantage in both public health infrastructure and industrial potential.

Telangana has significantly enhanced its transportation infrastructure in recent years. The state's Roads and Buildings Department currently maintains approximately 32,445 kilometers of roads, comprising 27,461 kilometers of State Highways and 4,983 kilometers of National Highways. The Hyderabad Metro Rail is undergoing a substantial expansion, with the proposed 36.8-kilometer Nagole-Shamshabad RGIA (Airport Corridor) set to improve urban mobility. Additionally, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad continues to enhance connectivity, serving numerous domestic and international destinations.

Telangana has enhanced its infrastructure with projects like the Mangalpally Logistics Park, a 22-acre facility near the Outer Ring Road offering truck parking, warehousing, and cold storage. The T-Fiber Grid aims to deliver high-speed broadband to over 83 lakh households across 33 districts. Additionally, the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and planned Regional Ring Road (RRR) improve connectivity and support economic growth.

Telangana is rapidly emerging as a hub for sustainable energy and green mobility, backed by a clear policy vision and strong execution. The state has installed over 4,800 MW of solar and 2,400 MW of hydro capacity and is actively expanding pumped storage and green hydrogen projects. Under its Clean Energy 2025 Policy, Telangana is targeting 20 GW of renewable capacity by 2030. 

On the mobility front, the state has rolled out over 1,000 electric buses, exempted road tax and registration fees for early EV adopters, and is scaling up to 3,000 charging stations by 2025.
