The Department of Personnel and Training, has announced the launch of a learning platform (https://igot.gov.in) which offers online training for doctors, nurses, paramedics, hygiene workers, technicians, Auxiliary Nursing Midwives (ANMS), central & state govt. officers, civil defence officials, various police organisations, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), National Service Scheme (NSS), Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Bharat Scouts & Guides (BSG) and other volunteers to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The platform can be useful to combat COVID-19 for all front-line workers and equip them with the training and updates in coping with the pandemic.  India’s first line of workers is already engaged in COVID-19 relief, the Ministry of Personnel’s memo said, but “a larger force will be needed to replace the first line” and to deal with “exponential or geometric increase” in COVID-19 positive cases in the subsequent stages of the pandemic.

The platform is called iGOT — Integrated Government Online Training and is set to be hosted on the Human Resources Development Ministry’s DIKSHA platform. The DIKSHA has been “retrofitted” to the purpose requested by the Central government’s Empowered Group chaired by Arun Panda, secretary in the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises. This particular group forms a part of the 11 such groups formed to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic by the Home Ministry under the Disaster Management Act.

The platform is a reflection of the vision of the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to ‘care for those who serve the nation’ and boost their morale. With an aim to provide training to 1.50 crore workers and volunteers in the coming weeks, it is designed to population scale.

The iGOT platform delivers curated, role-specific content, to each learner at their place of work or home and to any device of their choice. The platform currently hosts nine courses on topics like:
1.    Basics of COVID
2.    ICU Care and Ventilation Management
3.    Clinical Management, Infection Prevention through PPE
4.    Infection Control and Prevention
5.    Quarantine and Isolation
6.    Laboratory Sample Collection and Testing
7.    Management of COVID 19 Cases
8.    COVID 19 Training.

The iGOT platform is customized for the fight against this pandemic and provides a one-stop source to learn about critical areas and update their knowledge and capacity. Such training also helps the COVID warriors respond to the prevailing and emergent situations, by keeping themselves updated in a real-time manner. The platform is easy to use and can be accessed through desktop and mobile phones, making it accessible for all. The platform is also well equipped for high traffic and can cater to unlimited requests, thus, making it possible to learn anywhere anytime!
