In the Union Budget 2022, Finance Minister (FM) Nirmala Sitharaman recognized the importance of Nari Shakti as being a medium for women led development and women empowerment and announced the revamping of the programme and schemes of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The FM further emphasized on four schemes- Mission Shakti, Mission Vatsalya, Saksham Anganwadis and Poshan 2.0 for revamping to achieve benefits.
The FM stated that Saksham Anganwadis are the 'anganwadis' of a new age with improved infrastructure and powered by clean energy, thereby providing an enhanced environment for child development. During the Union Budget 2021, INR 20,105 crores were allocated to the scheme and reaped great benefits for women and children. Therefore, considering the success of the scheme throughout 2021, the FM announced that under the scheme, 2 lakh anganwadis will be upgraded into the new age anganwadis, which will be incorporated under the umbrella scheme of Saksham Anganwadis and Poshan 2.0 scheme.
The Saksham Anganwadis scheme and Poshan 2.0 will help in boosting the social and economic growth of women and children. The government by collaborating with the states would work to enhance the living conditions of women and children, and especially provide help to adolescent girls.
