The Parliament of India passed a bill to merge two Union Territories Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli into one UT in December 2019.

The UT stands 3rd among the State/UTs for its share in total exports of Man-Made Yarn/Fabs./Madeups etc., and Plastic And Linoleum in FY 2022-23.

The Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Union Territory consists of three districts, namely Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu. Daman is on the mainland near the southern portion of Gujarat and Diu is an island near Junagarh district in Gujarat.

Thermal power plants accounted for a significant share in the total installed capacity with 697 MW, whereas nuclear energy and renewable energy contributed 23 MW and 46 MW, respectively.

Centrally located between the vast industrial regions of Gujarat and Maharashtra, the coastline in Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu is 27 km and the UT has 7 landing centres.
