About the Department
Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of the Government of India, under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The agency serves as the first point of contact for investors exploring India as a business destination. Invest India is responsible for numerous key government initiatives including Startup India, AGNIi, One District One Product, Project Monitoring Group, and Waste to Wealth among others.
About Startup India:
Startup India is a flagship initiative of the Government of India intended to catalyze startup culture and build a strong and inclusive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in India. Since the launch of the initiative on 16th January 2016, Startup India has rolled out several programs with the objective of supporting entrepreneurs and transforming India into a country of job creators instead of job seekers. The initiative under the leadership of DPIIT, works on several policy-level and execution-level programs such as – government connect for startups, regulatory support, expansion of market access, other central /state government ministries, departments, and Public Sector Undertakings, among others. The team is placed under Invest India as a facilitator and a think tank for the initiative.
About WAIPA
The World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) is an international non-governmental organization established in 1995 by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. WAIPA provides the opportunity for investment promotion agencies (IPAs) to network and exchange best practices in investment promotion. In addition, it facilitates sharing of country and regional experiences in attracting foreign investment and enhancing outward investments. India is the elected President of WAIPA for the calendar years 2022 and 2023.
The candidate will be working with the WAIPA team under Startup India.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing an understanding of business climate and global startup ecosystem in energy and ESG-related sectors and document workflows to strategize improvement plan
- Developing new and maintaining existing relationships with stakeholders including officials, statutory bodies, industry associations, private and public partners & startups ecosystem stakeholders
- Identifying and building global opportunities and collaborations with stakeholders in tandem with vertical development
- Responsible and accountable for end-to-end delivery of the project(s), strategizing on the project(s), and ensuring smooth operations, including but not limited to:
- Developing an overall strategy for the project(s)
- Tracking and monitoring the progress of the project(s)
- Grievance Redressal
- Conducting data analysis and representation
- Facilitating engagements from foreign and domestics investors and corporate partners in the ESG sector
- Driving key product management functions, including competitive analysis, use-case development, and cross-functional team influence and leadership
- Strategizing platform development, defining current and target platform architecture, and leading the platform transformation roadmap for the Global Innovation Platform
Qualifications
- 5+ years of work experience in a front-end role and project management (Consulting Firm/ Investment Promotion Agency/ Development Agency / International Institutions such as World Bank, UNDP, etc. will be preferred)
- Post-graduate or graduate degree in business management/ engineering streams from Universities in India/abroad
- Experience in working with National and International Government stakeholders will be preferred
- Hands-on experience in Conceptualizing, Managing, and Executing projects independently and in teams
- Strong research, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, coordination, relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Strong presentation skills with expertise in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Power-Point
- Ability to work in a challenging environment, with multiple projects, and strict timelines
